Services for Women’s Nutritional Needs Today

A cornerstone of health for women and men alike is a balanced diet. Our team of women’s nutritionists will help you learn about the special nutrient needs that change with each stage of a woman’s life.

For example, during adolescence followed by early adulthood, women need to consume foods rich in calcium to build bone mass and reduce the risk of developing osteoporosis later in life. Women must also intake an adequate amount of calories to support energy and nutritional needs for the body to function properly. The amount of calories that an individual needs varies for each person and is based on age, gender and activity level. We can help determine the amount of calories you need each day and provide the right balance of supplements to help you maintain your current energy needs and body weight.

For good health, women need to incorporate a variety of foods for adequate calcium, iron and folate (folic acid) intake. A healthy daily diet of nutrient-rich foods will provide enough energy to keep up with a woman’s busy life and help prevent disease.

We recommend that women following these guidelines for good nutrition:

  • At least three one-ounce servings of whole grains (whole-grain bread, cereal, pasta, brown rice or oats)
  • Three servings of low-fat or fat-free dairy products (low-fat or fat-free milk, yogurt or cheese)
  • Five to six ounces of protein (lean meat, chicken, turkey, fish, eggs, beans or peas and nuts)
  • Two cups of fruits (fresh, frozen or canned without added sugar)
  • Two-and-a-half cups of colorful vegetables (fresh, frozen or canned without added salt)
