Immunizations

Immunizations: Not Just for Children!

Adults of all ages need regular immunizations to keep healthy and prevent illness. Routine screening for disease, along with scheduled immunizations such as the pertussis vaccine or Hep A vaccine, are critical to improving the health of our Kona community.

Shots to prevent illness are no fun at any age. However immunizations both prevent and detect illnesses and diseases in their earlier – and therefore treatable – stages, significantly reducing the risk of illness, disability, early death, and even medical care costs.

Many diseases and illnesses that can be prevented with vaccinations are typically considered childhood diseases, but may also occur in adolescent or adult years.
